First Commenter of the Week

Today we begin a new tradition for the Bakker Bugle, presenting for the first time, the Commenter of the Week award. It is especially fitting that we initiate it soon after the launch of the full BakkerBugle.com website.

Dave is the winner of this week’s award, in large part due to his proposal to follow the Irish government’s lead in creating bank holidays.Trophy 4aug07 Dave has been a faithful commenter for some weeks, but his comment of August 2nd is worthy of special praise. Especially notable is his long-standing commitment to the MLK holiday. This is a commenter who stands by his principles.

The Bakker Bugle Awards Committee must give an honourable mention to sharon. Her comment of August 3rd displayed the kind of fawning flattery that appeals to all the Committee members.

We expect great things of sharon and Dave in the future. They began the Commenter of the Week tradition with distinction and quality.

I object 1) to not winning & 2)to not having my name capitalized. Who is this “Dave” guy anyway? Is that his real name? really I don’t know who he is. Just kidding…2nd place rocks!!!
If Dave does anything to lose his title, I will gladly accept.

Sorry, Sharon, but your username in the comment was lower-case. Your name will be duly capitalised in the future.
You’re in the lead for the Commenter of the Week for 5-11 August 2007!

wow! check out Will’s british spelling of capitalized!! i’m starting to get scared. first the date and time conventions, now spelling. okay, now i’m starting to doubt myself, but i went into Word and typed capitalised and the program automatically changed the spelling to capitalized. i couldn’t be british if i wanted to.

It is with great pleasure that I accept this award. I have printed it and hung it up on my desk. I hope to have many more, and I will strive to be the best commenter of the week I can be!

Forgot to ask, Is there a code of conduct I have to abide by? If there are naughty pictures of me on the internet, do I have to give up my title?

Naughty pictures are encouraged; we can put them on the internet if you need help.

As for the code of conduct. Let’s see — get one new person to comment.

Fear not, as you cannot be stripped of the award. When potential employers and loved ones google you, this award will appear like a red flag in the face of a bull.

Oh, I came up with something else! When the Reigning Commenter of the Week gets someone new to comment, s/he can request a topic for a post by Anita or Will, or submit a website for a link and a review by Anita or Will. (We reserve the right to choose whether Anita or Will writes the post.)

And, if you visit Dublin within six months of winning the award, you get a pint of Guinness or a measure of Jameson.

OK, Checked Google. When you google my name you get: 1) A North Carolina Architech 2) a steelworker’s letter to congress 3) someone involved in Savings and Loan Fraud pardoned by Bush and 4)Mark Wahlberg, who played a crazy stalker with my name in a movie.

“Someone” involved in S&L Fraud. I always knew you were a prodigy, Dave.
